Dr. Shapiro has dedicated more than 30 years to researching, caring for, and treating children and adults with OI. His expertise also covers OI infants and OI pregnancies. Dr. Shapiro works closely with physicians at Johns Hopkins Hospital as well as local physicians to coordinate each OI patient’s care and long-term well-being.

Emily L. Germain-Lee, MD

Dr. Germain-Lee has been a pediatric endocrinologist for 20 years with a specialty in the diagnosis and treatment of bone disorders including OI. She is also the Director of Bone Research and the Albright Clinic at Kennedy Krieger with research interests in OI, Albright hereditary osteodystrophy, and other bone conditions. Dr. Germain-Lee developed and directed the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Bone Center and is the Principal Endocrinologist for the Greenberg Center for Skeletal Dysplasias in the Institute of Genetic Medicine at Johns Hopkins.

Dr. Sponseller is the co-founder of the OI Clinic at Kennedy Krieger Institute, where he holds active staff tenure. He is also the Chief of Pediatric Orthopedics at Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Vice Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital and a Professor in Orthopedic Surgery at Johns Hopkins University.

Arabella I. Leet, MD

Dr. Leet is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon as well as a clinical scientist with a research interest in OI. She did her residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Minnesota and a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery at the Alfred I DuPont Institute in Delaware and the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. At Kennedy Krieger she sees patients with OI and is also the director of the orthopedic center for cerebral palsy.
