Welcome Dr. Germain-Lee
The Bone Center and Osteogenesis Imperfecta Clinic is pleased to announce that Emily Germain-Lee, M.D., has joined the Program as Associate Director and the Director of the Bone Research Program at the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Baltimore. Dr. Germain-Lee is Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a member of the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology at Johns Hopkins.
Dr.Germain-Lee received her Bachelor’s degree from Harvard University and her M.D. degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Her internship and residency in Pediatrics as well as her fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology were also completed at Johns Hopkins. She is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and its Sub-Board of Pediatric Endocrinology.
We are fortunate in that she brings broad experience in the diagnosis and treatment of bone disorders to the institute. Dr. Germain-Lee has directed the Johns Hopkins Pediatric Bone Center where she was involved in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with Osteogenesis Imperfecta as well as other skeletal disorders. She also serves as the Principal Pediatric Endocrinologist of the Greenberg Center for Skeletal Dysplasias at the Johns Hopkins Institute of Genetic Medicine.
A recognized leader in both the research aspects and the clinical care of patients with Albright Hereditary Osteodystrophy (AHO), Dr. Germain-Lee recently defined an important component of treatment for AHO, growth hormone replacement, which has significant effect on the patient’s growth and well-being. As Dr. Germain-Lee has noted, feature of AHO have relevance for other bone disorders such as OI and related skeletal dysplasia.
